Training Philosophy
Fitness should be a life style. One should learn to incorporate exercise into their life just like brushing their teeth. Okay, that may be over kill. But exercise needs to become automatic, a habit. That being said, one needs to learn how to fit that into a BALANCED life. Can you eat pizza? Yes, and enjoy it. Eat some dessert. Take a day off and rest. But get back into it! You can fall off the wagon, just learn how to get right back on!
A little bit about me, your trainer.
I am 40 year old single mother of 3. I was born and raised in Overland Park, Kansas and moved to Parker in 2003. I am AFAA and ACSM certified which may or may not mean anything to you but AFFA is one of the oldest and most widely accepted certifications there is and ACSM is among the most respected in the industry for it’s requirements and scope of knowledge. Many trainers will push certifications but I believe that my personal experiences are much more valuable than the letters behind my name, but I do have all those letters just in case you feel that is important.
I have competed in 3 NPC and NANBF figure competitions placing 2nd in each one. I understand the strict discipline it takes to reach such levels of competition but more importantly, I know the discipline it takes to maintain your health and physique in a realistic manner that applies to everyday life.
I have been physically active since college. No, I did not play sports in either high school or college. In fact, I quit a promising “career” in gymnastics when I was in junior high and decided it was more important to have time to paint my nails...
Unlike a lot of people who find themselves overweight with the absence of being involved in sports activities, I found myself over weight by drinking beer and eating pizza and then taking long afternoon naps after class. Once I figured out I could get away with “partying” if I spent an hour on the stairmaster I was hooked!
I have seen fitness crazes go through many phases and participated in many of them myself (some of them I’m embarrassed to admit!) While I did NOT sport a thong over tights, I did do silly aerobics classes, slide classes, step classes, ran miles and miles, tried biking, Buns of Steel, Arms of Steel, Abs of Steel videos. I ate no fat, all carbs, all protien, drank nothing but protein shakes. I tried lifting light weights, heavy weights, ran for hours on the treadmill, climbed stairs, “ellipticalled” myself to death. I’ve done Body for Life workouts (boring), P90X, the list goes on and on but my point is I have tried lots and lots of ways of staying in shape through exercise and diet. And while a lot of them do work, I’ve figured out what works BEST!
While I am proud of my personal accomplishments, nothing makes me more proud than helping someone change their life by giving them the tools to reach their own personal goals and be the best they can be. (see testimonials:)
I know exactly what it takes to get in shape and STAY in SHAPE for life. Let me show you how....
